THROWING INSTRUCTIONS DOUBLING
GENERAL: I suggest to apply the so called PINCH-GRIP on these rangs, i.e. press both boms tightly between thumb and index finger. This will provide longer flight times and moire stability.
THE THROW
DOUBLERS ARE ALWAYS THROWN INTO THE WIND, appr 45 degrees, that is halfway into the coming wind. That way the outside rang can gain enough elevation to guarantee time between catches.
These 3bladers should be launched almost vertically. Aiming height depends mostly on throwing power and wind speed- between 15 and 30 degrees up. In low winds, aim lower and apply a slightly larger tilt angle.
ADJUSTMENTS- TROUBLE SHOOTING :
The throwing direction is good, when the Outside rang does not turn in front of you but keeps climbing into the wind.
The throwing level is good when both rangs climb in 2 or 3 circles without losing height.
IF THE OUTSIDER......
...doesn't stay airborne long enough:
- 1. throw harder and apply more spin OR
- 2. bend one of its wings slightly upward OR
- 3. twist one wing slightly negative (clockwise)
IF THE OUTSIDER......
..starts rocking during the hover phase and crashes down:
- 1.bend all wings flat OR
- 2. twist one wing slightly positive e(counter clockwise) OR
- 3. put a small flap ( appr 2-3mm high and 2cm long ) on to the bottom in the center of the rang OR
- 4. adjust the tilt angle on release
Generally : then harder (more spin!) you throw, the more time you will have between catches!
In windy conditions:in oder to cross the 20m required distance, add small weights (dimes) on the boottom of the wings if neccessary.
PRACTICE!!!
HAVE FUN AND LOTS OF GOOD FLIGHTS!
